School Calendar Data Reports 2026-27

Each report compares all 179 districts on this site on one question, using the same official 2026-27 calendars as the district pages. Every report links one official calendar per state so the numbers can be checked at the source.

How the numbers are made

Each district's 2026-27 calendar is read from the file the district posted on its own website, never from news stories or other calendar sites. A day counts as a day off only when the calendar shows students do not attend: a holiday, a break, or a staff day the calendar marks as having no students. Many calendars say that only through a color or symbol in the legend, so those days are checked against the original file by eye. Counts such as weekdays off or days in the school year are our arithmetic from those dates, not a district's official instructional-day total.

Corrections

On October 12, 2026 we re-checked, against the original files, every staff and professional development day whose label did not say whether students attend. Where the legend, the wording or the printed monthly day counts showed that students stay home, the day is now counted as a day off; where they showed a short training session with students in class, it stays a school day. The Election Day, winter break and school-year-length reports changed as a result: more districts close on Election Day, and fewer return from winter break on January 4. Days the original files leave unclear are left as printed. If you spot a date that does not match your district's calendar, tell us through the contact page.
